Gettysburg Battle

Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:32 pm

Hello fellow gamers-

Just a question to find out how many of you are re-enactors and if any of you are planning on attending the 145th Anniversary Battle of Gettysburg this coming weekend.

As a side note, my AAR will be taking a 1 week leave of absence so I can go to the event!

Curious you should pose this question -- I just came from viewing a re-enactment of the Peach Orchard and Wheatfield engagements, this past Sunday, 6/29/08. I had a blast (it was the first re-enactment I had attended)!

Anyone else on here attend that as well?

I found these footage from the reenactment of Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg this early July. Enjoy! :)

Thanks for the posting the link to the footage. It was very cool. Only thing is no one fell over dead for some reason. Was it because the reenactment was supposed to be a family event or something?

I vaguely recall some regulations about 'reality' in National Military Parks....

AAFAIK The 'combat action scenes' for the movie Gettysburg were not filmed in the park for something like that....

The re-enactment I went to see had dead bodies left on the field.
