OK, so I am posting this in the AACW forums due to question #1 -- please feel free to move if needed.

I am looking at AGEOD's "Birth of America" with keen interest (the French & Indian War and American Revolution sparked my interest in American history back in the day), and would like to know a couple things first:

1) I see that this game was the first to use the engine we all know and love in AACW. So, am I to assume that if I know the rules to AACW, then I know the rules to BOA as well and I should be able to "slide" right into the game? I also hear that AACW took that engine and upped the ante, so am I to assume that BOA is a simpler version of AACW in its play mechanics?

2) I see that BOA2 is in the works? Am I better off just waiting for that version...meaning, will that one be all that the first one was, and more...or is it a sequel meant to encompass other wars after the Revolution (although I think WIA will do that)?

CWnut, I would just wait for WIA to come out. I have both and have played BOA 3 times. BOA just feels to easy to me, so I spend all my time on AACW.

I guess you'll love BOA2... we have kept many of the "easy" principles of play, but added content and a lot of new features (from AACW / NPC) that you will probably like

Compare to AACW, BoA is much easier and quicker to play. Its simplicity and elegance made it a classic. But if BoA is easy to learn, it's quite hard to master too as it makes truly feel the art of war constraintes of the Revolutionary period.

If you want a quick game and can offer the 19.99 €, then BoA 1 is a real bargain.

BoA 2: Wars in America will offer more campaigns (including the full 1812 War) and many mechanisms coming from AACW and NCP. It will also propose brand new mechanisms and orders. However, it will keep BoA spirit!
