I'd like to be able to 'force' an attack

Sun Jun 08, 2008 10:52 pm

I've mused about this long and hard and for me the 'active/inactive' rule is so restrictive, particularly when attempting to conduct offensive operations with less than perfect leaders. I'd much prefer it if I had an option to over-ride the 'inactive' command with a suitable penalty (say -35%) for conducting an attack when unprepared. Dont suppose it will ever happen but I can dream :innocent:

I'd agree, but at a much greater penalty. perhaps 55% if that's possible so that there is a LITTLE pause when one considers whether or not to execute such an attack. Otherwise, even at 35% penalty, if you have enough troops, you can overwhelm someone pretty easily.

Besides...this is somewhat covered by the MC rules.....where your force auto switches to offensive when you move into enemy territory. THAT doesn't discriminate between active and inactive.

Give me a Brigade and I will take that Hill! Generals dont always press an attack?

That's the whole point. It's a handcuff, so you cannot always accomplish what you want to.

In fact you can do that. (Well I think so)

You can move in defensive stance INTO an enemy position. JUST you will get a -35% penalty if a battle arises.
