Events

Some events I was wondering about?

Does Lincoln ever lose the election of 1864? I had beat the game and continued playing, while in possession of large swaths of Northern territory, Lincoln still manages to win the election.

Does France ever actually decide to accept cotton for recognition as the CSA?

Some events I've figured don't fire from time to time. For instance I've had one game where the Norfolk event doesn't fire. I've also seen the "Sam Houston resists succession" and the "Confederate Arizona" events fire or not fire from game to game.

I know the Sam Houston and Missouri riot events are based on a die roll. I've never seen cotton for recognition, didn't know there was such an event in the game; but then I've also never seen the Norfolk event not fire. Not sure about the election or Arizona, but I know where to look. I'll get back later with this info ... If someone else hasn't posted it in the meantime.

Yeah, the Norfolk even didn't fire in my last game, though there was a large Federal army occupying Norfolk.

As for the French recognition event, I would think that it has to work sometimes. Unless I'm mistaken points only accrue for Great Britain as far as intervention goes.

Lastly, anyone have any knowledge about the Lincoln election? Is it even possible that he doesn't win the 1864 election?

If CSA captures Norfolk in 1861, they get CSS Virginia, assorted other Ironclads, able to build Ironclads, Norfolk reinforcemnts, etc. USA gets USS Monitor, able to build ironclads.

If not captured by a certain date, get ability to build but no free boats/troops.

Norfolk cannot be owned by USA for CSS Virginia to get built....

[My CSA strategy is to capture Norfolk to turn 1 using Suffolk militia]

Lincoln's re-election is automatic.

France will not recognize the CSA for cotton.

The Norfolk event will fire if the CSA owns Norfolk any time between Early May 1861 and Late February 1862.

The Sam Houston event has a 5% chance to fire each turn between April and Early July of 1861. @ 30% overall

Arizona appears to be automatic - late February 1862.

The St Louis Massacre has a 75% chance of firing each turn from Late May to Early July 1861. @ 94% overall
