Unusual KY Secession

Mon Dec 31, 2007 4:44 pm

Playing vers 1.08a in the April 1861 GC as the Union.

Much earlier than I had seen in previous games, the CSA invaded KY. By laying siege to Louisville, the event 'the CSA Invades KY' was triggered. As expected, KY's provinces' loyalties all swung in the Union's favour.

As the invasion was much too early, the CSA invasion force was too small and KY was quckly overrun by the North. All but one of its cities had been captured and the last, Columbus, was under siege.

Then, I receive the event that KY has decided to secede from the Union. The state's provinces all have their respective loyalties shift strongly in favour of the South requiring me to mount a massive garrisoning operation.

Has anyone else seen a similar set of events in KY?

Yes, CSA forces invaded first and the state joined the Union, then after Paducha fell the state joined CSA. Very strange...I think I might have that game still but is a strong maybe.

I have had this happen in reverse in my latest game. I was playing as CSA and the usual Union invasion was expected, but the turn resolution said that KY was invaded by the CSA. I continued playing the game even with this error, and the next turn I get the message that KY had seceded. I checked the loyalty and KY was definitely CSA. Very strange bug!

how can you spot if KY has either seceded or joined the Union ?

Is this related to the "loaylty swing" from the event chain ? Or does it has to do with the owner of the capital ?

There will be a message in your message box stating that Ky has seceded or joined the Union. If the event fires because of an attack by either side? There will be a message saying so. To the best of my knowledge. They don't always seced or join on the same turn as the attack. Sometimes it happens the turn after.

Ky. will seced or join the Union if either side attacks a city in Ky. controled by the opposing side. I have had Ky. join the Union twice. Once because I mistaken attacked Bowling Green. And once through Victory points ( I think). Not sure what the trigger is for the Victory point event.

My thing is that with 1.08A, I am getting the message that the CSA (me) attacked. But, the next turn KY joins the CSA.
