Not meaning to offend you, but I do wish you would make clear the actual reason why you are not integrating any MODs this particular update so as to make it clear that you really are not patronizing one individual over all the rest of the individuals who truly want to see the game historically enhanced.

The patch I will issue tomorrow is one without any changes to the scenarios, so won't incorporate your changes in the transportation levels, as I don't have time to export the scenarios another time (even if you data were validated).

Then, within one week or two, when you have finalized your work, another patch will be issued with your data.

So for Pasternakski et al. a patch will be issued without modifications. I'm not saying it will always be like that.

Last but not least, I do not even consider the changes you make on transports levels to be 'debatable' fan work (as some see mods), as the team decided that you were much more efficient than us on this aspect (not even speaking the fact you find some time we don't have) and backed all your facts with historical maps. if we agree, then it is ok, by essence. :)

So this is a two-step process. We are clearing the last bugs in the next patch, and people not wanting anything from modders will have what they want. And then we resume the integration of officially approved data, that we checked between ourselves.

Thanks for the news, Pocus.

Gray Lensman,

When tomorrow's patch comes out, would you mind posting instructions for integrating all of your changed files into it, with links to the files? I'd like to use your data, but I've lost track of what's needed and what's not. I plan to do a clean reinstallation tomorrow when the patch is released.

Make that at least two of us GL... I use them because highly value your upgrades to the campaign's historical veracity.

Many thanks! :coeurs:

3 of us at least :coeurs:
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

I think moderators should attach a nice poll to this thread and show everyone what the majority of AACW users think.

Numbers talk clearer than dozens of posts :)

Hi all,

Actually I was more thinking about closing this thread. :cwboy:

I think all of you have made your point clearly (and respectfully) and I don't expect any of you to change his point of view.

I don't see the point in a poll. Both views are understandable, and even if one was getting a majority, in now way the minority would be "wrong" IMHO.

Pocus has given a very clear answer, and this answer satisfies both demands.

Therefore, gentlemen, let's call it a draw. No need to keep discussing and risking to argue.

Good game.

Best regards,

Korrigan

Oh i don't think anyone could ever change his opinion or hope the other "side" changes his. Regardless of the poll results, i guess everyone would still respect the other side's opinion.

I was just thinking that this poll might be useful to make the DEV see what the community thinks of the choices taken so far.

Ok, i confess...i also think the poll would make Parterakski understand that numbers justify some choices but that would be the poll telling him, not our "side" :)

I'm all about choices: I love seeing the mods included, but I can see wanting a "clean" patch with just bug fixes.

I'm all for a peacefull restoration of the forum union! :innocent:

If Pocus is referring to "tomorrow" as in Friday Nov 16th, I am afraid there will be a slight delay in my getting back to the forum. After tomorrow afternoon, it'll be Sunday before I can actually resume AACW work,

I have been on vacation all week, and mostly it has been a working vacation, both working with the game, and (O.T)installing a new air conditioner compressor on a vehicle for my grandson. So as of tomorrow afternoon, I am taking a little drive down to see the "Shiloh National Military Park" I live in central MO, so it's probably a 6 to 7 hour drive. I may login Friday/Saturday just to check out things, but I won't be doing any AACW work until Sunday.

I went and toured Wilson's Creek back in August and it was quite informative, and enjoyable, though you have to really know how the battle went to get the most out of it. I have pictures of it (Wilson's Creek) that I just haven't had the time to make a thread for, since I have been so busy with the AACW rework. I'll get to it sometime though after the major data work on ACW is done.

Regards

edit: The Wilson's Creek trip in August convinced me that I want to do these tours in cooler weather. I'm not the hot outdoors type anymore. LOL

Have a great trip!

While we wait, should we simply add your additions from earlier (the ones you've suggested for 1.07f) to the new 1.07g when it arrives?

Thanks for everything.

Thanks. Leaving in about 3 hours.

If you are familiar enough with the TransportLvl settings in the scenario files that may or may not have to be edited to make them work, you probably could get them to work with the upcoming update (v1.07g).

There was a bit of confusion with some gamers when v1.07f came out concerning these same items, which is why I am withholding them temporarily until I can look into the regenerated scenario files myself. Once I do place the links back up, however, I'll try to respond to questions concerning them in the AACW Mods threads, because for the time being they are enhancement MODs.

I don't mean to complain, but I wish Pocus hadn't said anything about releasing a patch today. I'm driving myself nuts checking the forums every 10 minutes, plus or minus 9 minutes. :niark:

lol...I feel ya but with my PBEM games going I imagine I need to make sure they install it as well. I am ok waiting though if that is the case because I am having an absolute blast with the current version.

I am sticking to those mods approved and issued by Pocus! Mods of generals and maps and weather, etc. are too comprehensive, IMO, to avoid the real danger of unbalancing a beautiful gaming experience. If Pocus wants to adopt and modify a proposed/actual mod, then I will download it. This is
AGEOD's game, not a modder's game. Pocus is one of my favorite people in my life; his games make my life better. I have my own opinions on what the ratings of generals etc. should be; I think we all do. As for what others will do I care not; give me Pocus or give me death!! Tag

And again we are getting back to our little fight. I suggest that Korrigan finally locks this down.

The first patch out of the serie of three is out, gents, in public beta state. No modding work has been incorporated in it, no squirrels were harmed too.

What Unites Us?

Mon Nov 19, 2007 1:23 am

Been looking at the arguements over modding and patches and whatever - For me I like this game because of the patches and the mods and the ongoing development and the work that it sems to me many have done on thier own!
I tell you now if this game had been done by Electronic Arts for instance I would not have bought the game - That is just one games company that I have become less than happy with over the years!Even though ACW is one of my intersts if not passions in life!I appluad AGEOD and all those who made this a game that keeps my playing!
I can think of ACW games in the past that failed because they could not hold the interest and because the companies concerned would not make any effort to even fix the bugs let alone improve the game!
I think that what Unites us in this respect is far greater than what divides us! We all want a good PC gaming experience related to the ACW!If we have a civil war over it then we have no game?Sometimes a little patience is required and it should be granted to those who might have a mutitude of things to deal with and not enough time in the day!
