A good read about Sherman

From the perspective of someone who was around him a lot in Savannah and much of his campaign, Judson Kilpatrick. Short but gives a look into Sherman as a person and his personality.

I'm not going to read that rough type .pdf file you posted there, but you gave me the idea to look for Sherman's Memoirs on Amazon, and I think I'm going to pick up a cheap used copy there.

I'm slowly coming around to the view that between Sherman and Grant, Sherman was actually the smarter of the two. Even so, Sherman had a profound affection for Grant.
