Forming Divisions

Fri Nov 02, 2007 12:13 pm

I have had problems forming Divisions. I am playing as the Union, the leader, in this case Hooker, could not be assigned as a divisional commander, but he was active that turn. He was able to have a single unit attached to him. It was early in the game, but there were only 5 divisions on the map for the union at the time. So, I waited 1 turn, and then he could form a division. I had the required ‘stuff’ on each turn. Any ideas? Sometimes you have to remove the leader from the stack, and kind of put him off to the side, and then you can form a division.

Can every 1 star general lead a division?

If this has been addressed before, I apologize, but I could not find much on this.

I love the game, the level of detail, the engine, great game. I look forward to purchasing the Napoleon Campaigns!

Sounds like that when you first tried it, you were at the division limit, as you were able to make him a division cmdr next turn.

The Union gets 48 divs, but not all at once. I think the tool tip tells you how many you have and can form.

I have had that happen to me a couple of times and ech time it was because I didn't have the required amount of supplies available this turn or I was at the division limit.

You must have the required 10 Money, 5 War Supply, and 1 conscipt available at the start of the turn. Not PROJECTED to be available, but held over from the previous turn. This is a very important distinction. If you completely drain one of those every turn, you'll never be able to build divisions. To ensure you can, always finish a turn with 50 money, 25 war supply, and 5 conscripts, enough to build 5 divisions next turn.

I bet that's the problem.

That is the problem, the tool tip said that a division was trying to form and did not have the stuff to make it.

Thanks all.
