Hits on fleet bypassing my fort

Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:23 pm

Ft. Monroe just landed 31 hits on a fleet passing by (I also have a fleet of at least 4 ships (as many as 7 in one fleet) in every sea section around it since I have the region blockaded and I transported a bunch of troops to Monroe to work towards Richmond that way, not sure how sound that strategy is but the thing is NONE of my fleets even fired a shot at the fleet Ft. Monroe attacked and they are all in assault position, why is that???)

Landing 31 hits, what exactly does that mean in terms of damage? Would it tell me if I actually sank a ship?

Heh, I have a tendency to sleep when it's between 1 and 3 AM at night... ;)

Even if your fleet is on assault posture (I don't think there's any benefit for naval stacks in going beyond offensive posture, BTW), there is a chance that other fleets can slip by without being engaged.

The various vessels kan take varying degrees of damage. E.g. Union frigates can take 15, while monitors can take 30.

Ships sunk by fort bombardment are announced for the sinker, though I wish they were :)
