Leaders attributes

Thu Aug 23, 2007 5:20 pm

New to the game and I love it so far. I would love to see the option of hiding leader statistics, until the game is over or at least until a few battles have been fought by each leader. If you randomize, or partially randomize the stats of the generals I think this would make you feel more like lincoln and davis when it came down to selecting leaders. Pocus, would this be to hard to add or is there a way to MOD this feature in?

semi randomization in done. Hidding stats is very difficult, as it needs to have all events reworked to not be silly: many people know that the unknown general arriving at location X is Price, Grant, etc.

Or what will you do with the indirect clues given by the abilities? I have an unknown cavalryman but I see he moves troops very fast and such... my guess, given the time frame, he is Forrest.

Just 2 examples why we don't have done that.

I agree detemining the name of the leader would be real easy. But having his stats randomized and hidden would prevent you from knowing if he is the great general that Forrest, for example, really was. Hidden stats will create a more natural discovery of which general is effective and which is not so effective.

The way it is now the second that Lee becomes available he is rushed into a major army command. If you have no idea how he will perform and your current army leaders are performing adequately you will not be so quick to place Lee into an existing command. I just think it would really add to the replayability and give you more of feel for Davis and Lincoln's tough decisions.

I think there was also a problem with attributes. It's certainly something that has been given a lot of thought but there were quite a few problems.

It may appear in some form at some point in the future.
Cheers, Chris
