Cotton Runs: Frigates or Raiders?

So what is the best unit for the Confederacy for the purposes of running the blockade? Frigates have a 120% Speed Coefficient compared to 100% for Raiders, as well as higher Evade values.

They cost more, but it seems they have better chances for survival?

Frigates can't transport anything, can they? Which makes them useless for bringing in stuff?

dear fellows, I have some questions about blockade running.
1. Is it still possible with patch 1.06 for the CSA to build frigates and sending them to the Gulf Box to seize the Box and destroying the US ships there??

2. If I seized the Gulf Box as the CSA from the US can I still building transports as the CS and sending them there without any disturbance from the US Navy or will the AI crush my ships sending a bigger naval force there?
How are my chances to hold the box over time against the US AI?

I hope for some enlightenment from the community or the developers.
