I just bought the game, after playing the demo during the weekend (fabulous game!); I was wondering if there is a list of the events or/and the causes that trigger some events. Maybe my lack of knowledge of the Civil War doesn´t allow me to see something that for others looks obvious: e.g. entering Kentucky as the CSA is not for free...

I don't know of a list of events. I say just go for it and let the events surprise you the first time. It's more fun that way. Once you've played through the game once or twice -- which will take a while -- then you'll be able to anticipate events in advance, which actually might be less fun.
