Work for volunteers

Hi PON helpers. In a few weeks I will be done with exams and have 12 weeks of Summer holiday, during which there will be much free time. :neener: I am interested to know what kind of useful things I might be able to do to improve PON? It has been my favourite game for about three years now. ;)

Better contact Kensai or Loki101, if you can take the relay from them.

Hi

I have two parts to the changes I offered to do that I've yet to start on. One is the Crimean war and that is relatively straightforward (by the terms of this exercise). Christophe has written the events so its a case of reworking his ideas into the spreadsheet format that AGEOD need. So its a a one to one task (one thread with the events, one spreadsheet). I'd be happy to supply the working files and chat about pitfalls and give you egs.

The other is trying to clean up some of the colonial events. Some is a bit of expansion, eg to make Persia more interesting (Egypt is another) but a lot is trying to add code so that a player doesn't lose a colony if an event hands it to the AI. This is a bit messier as some events have a suitable check and some don't so its a lot more fiddling around. There may also be a need to think about secondary fall out such as a crisis but my feeling is most of the scripted colonies happened in regions that were historically unclaimed and happened in those regions precisely for that reason. But the French as an eg, may have got pretty annoyed if say the UK held onto colonial regions in the sub-sahara. So that is a bit messier as the material is scattered around.

I've got very busy recently, as with the Scottish independence referendum last summer, major UK political events are good for my work load and cash flow but rubbish for my game playing time and I've been feeling very guilty, esp about the Crimea, for a while.

Pm me, and I'll give you my email etc, if you want to go ahead

Sounds like a challenge! I'll get back to you in probably just under a month. Cheers.
