Settings saved in game file?

Sat Apr 25, 2015 6:13 pm

If you are hosting multiple PBEM games and each has different game settings, are the settings for the game stored in the save file or do you need to remember to change the settings before loading each game?

No, all settings are unfortunately 'game' settings and not 'scenario' settings. So you will have to check all settings each time you load a scenario for hosting.

Thanks Orso, was thinking on this with 3 different Hosted games. Does it matter for the player receiving the Host file that their settings also match? Mutually..

In some case yes, but not in all. The players should be using the same settings.

In your case you might want to use copies of the the '..\CW2\Settings' directory. Setup you private settings and then archive the Settings directory with some label that you know it contains your own settings. Then do the same for each game you are hosting. Then all you have to do is copy in the correct Settings directory to have the correct settings.

Ouch. That makes multiple PBEM challenging. I think I've been doing it wrong in the past.

Just do it they way I described and you should be fine. It's simple and quick

One point I didn't expand upon is that you must quit the game to be certain that it loads the option correctly. That might take a couple of minutes for each scenario you host, but that's what Youtube is for ;)
