Auto-Save 'off' & etc.

Sun Mar 05, 2006 5:49 pm

Is there some place to turn off auto-save? I saved a game and went back to grab it (and for some reason it wasn't there), and saw 14 saves ranging from the tutorial ones to the game ones I was playing (1876 Carolinas). All I saw of these, in conjunction with the game I was playing was beginning of the game (4 turns remaining), and end of game (0 turns left). Nowhere was my 2nd turn save to be found. Plus a ton of tutorial saves I never initiated. (lot's of save game clutter to peruse thru)

The other matter might just be me needing more confirmation, but I have a devil of a time making sure my units are actually getting into a town (or assaulting one). I thought I saw the town icon light up on one occasion of moving my unit in it, but not seen it again. Even it the 'terrain window' could show a town if the unit is properly placed, or seeing how this is more a view of the region, if the unit could somehow have a icon show it's moving into the town. Now again, maybe this is just me needing too much feedback in this particular movement routine, but I continually keep moving my unit around till I 'think' it's properly place for town entry.

Lastly, in my attempt to assault Camden, I successfully encountered some colonial forces that I apparently pushed aside upon entering Camden. They had an inverted bracket with a number in it (3 in this case). I believe this to probably be a entrenchment icon of some sort, but could not find an example in the manual, or a tooltip that explained it.(and of course I could of missed this somewhere in the manual :tournepas

I would also like to add my voice to the point taken in other threads to somehow pause or slow down combat windows so I can more clearly see battles occuring (movement too for that matter).

Thanks.

1. autosave is always on for now. If you dont need a game anymore, delete it manually. We will add a delete possibility in the game any time soon.

2. I dont quite understand your problem with cities. If your army is already in the region of the city, then drop it on the city (this is the cursor end which matters, but the tooltip will change if you are over the city). The army will get a small icon if in a city, and if you unselect it, it will disapears from you until you select the city again.

If your army is not in the region of the city, targetting the region or the city dont matter, the result will be the same: you are asking to move in the region. Now if you want to enter the city at the end of this movement, you have a special order for that.

3. care to post a screenshot please?

I had the same thing happen when trying to figure out if a unit was inside a city or not.
You have to "Right Click" to unselect the unit, after draging it into the city, the unit sprite will properly disappear off the map and move into the city. If you don't "Right Click", and select another unit in another region, and drag it into it's own city, they both (the sprites) stay on the map. When you finally "Right Click", all sprites move into their cities.
The key to moving units and loading/unloading fleets is to use the tip of the mouse cursor as the reference, not the unit itself.

Thanks much Pocus!

I haven't had time to get back to the game to see if I can get that Icon back again. It looked sort of like this:

____
| 3 |

But more rounded I guess one would say. And it was attached to the Unit
at the lower right of the icon. (if his helps). I'm sure it was a entrench.

Speaking of saving. Are you going to add the capability to save a game with a name you type in??
