Any way to scale up the Unit Panel?

Thu Oct 17, 2013 2:36 am

ACW II fan, but new to RUS.

Monitor is 24" running at 1920x1200.

The Unit Panel at the bottom seems much smaller than I'm used to in ACW II. In fact, it strains my eyes to see the numbers...

Is there any way to scale it to be larger?

Not without extensive modding, as the interface library used is the old one. The new one in CW2 is much more adaptable, even if interface-making still remains a PITA ;)

You may use 1680x1050 resolution as a game option.
Or maybe 1280x800, 1440x900, or 1728x1080.

Yes, that's right, but only if I reset my resolution at the computer level. Sadly the Configuration Utility doesn't seem to work for me. It shows 3 lines for each resolution choice and even if I pick one and click "change", it doesn't do anything and forgets the setting if run again.

Try directly to edit the Display.opt file in \Settings folder:

ScreenWidth = 1680
ScreenHeight = 1050
ScreenDepth = 32
ScreenFrequency = Default (not "= 60")
Cursor = Hardware
FullScreen = 1
Windowed = 0
Borderless = 1

Thank you! :p ompom:

That worked perfectly. For me, 1440x900 worked best.

Just out of curiosity, was the ScreenFrequency the "secret switch" to triggering the .opt values on?

I had found this in the end when I was using Windows XP with my past AMD graphic card
(I have now a more 'powerfull' AMD one with Win8 and I no longer have this problem).
I don't know what's wrong: AGE, WinXP, ATI driver, old ATI card?

Don't you have problems with the Ledger not fitting on your screen now?

Seems to fit fine, leaving about an inch at top and bottom.

FYI, my system specs: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz, 8 GB, AMD Radeon HD 5670; Win 7. Latest patches/drivers.

The ledger is much higher than 900 px, so you are not running the game at 1440x900 then.

Yikes! This is at least a mystery that may be headed for enigma land... here's what I know-

The resolution is definitely lower. The size of the ledger is increased by about 40% to my eyes.

The display.opt (copy/paste) is:

ScreenWidth = 1280
ScreenHeight = 800
ScreenDepth = 32
ScreenFrequency = Default
Cursor = Hardware
FullScreen = 1
Windowed = 0
Borderless = 1

BrigthnessLevel = 0
MapBrigthness = 0
SeeAIFiles = 1
SeeTutoFiles = 0

Here's the kicker... My monitor reports that it is running at 1920x1200.

More strangeness... the ledger at this resolution shows the one unit, Cherkassk Garrison, in the Ice March scenario. The unit is NOT shown in the ledger at the default (desktop) resolution.

It appear that changing the display.opt, per above, affects not only the resolution, but some of the code segments that are executed. Also it appears that certain scaling options in my Radeon video card may be in play. :bonk: :wacko: :blink:
