Problem with Pompey Strategic Choices event

Sun Sep 15, 2013 8:39 pm

Hi!

I'm playing Pompey on a PBEM game of Pompey vs Caesar scenario, using the latest 1.02b patch.

On turn 3 the "Pompey Strategic Choices" event fired as usual and i stupidly :bonk: forgot to click on any of the two choices.
Next turn i noticed the game seemed to made the decision for me as on the message log it said that Pompey would stay in the East.
But it looks like by not choosing any option, i'm experiencing a kind of "light" version of the "Stay in the East" event:

-Hispania legions are locked, Gades and Hispalis are no longer objectives, loyalty has go down in the region, i lost 4 NM... everything looks OK here.

-But i have noticed the 15 eastern provincial legions are not on my buildable pool of units and on turn 5 or 6 i don't get any of the usual options to gather help from the Asia Minor states... no galatians or Capadoccians or Commagene contingents are available.
Numid support is available as usual, but i suppose it's not related to the Strategic Choices event.

I have made some test runs on this scenario against the AI and the issue is reproduceable... if Pompey don't make an election he losses Hispania but don't get eastern support :(

So, my question is... is this a bug or it's WAD and indeed it exists a third choice for Pompey if he does not select any of the two main choices? If it's a bug.. would it be some way i can circumvent it editing some file so i can get my eastern troops?? or should we start over the game? Fighting against Caesar is difficult enough with eastern help... i don't feel like trying without it!

Regards!

PS: if you need any files or whatever, let me know!

PS2: by the way, on my test runs to check the problem i noticed the Galatian contingent you can buy for some EP creates a duplicated leader, Kastor, who is both in the newly bought contingent and on another stack in the same region (Ancyra).

Hi

Indeed a bug in the autochoice consequences :bonk:

Will try to correct it for next patch

Don't quite understand the double Kastor, I see no reason...

Can you provide save/scripts ?

Thanks

Sure!
what saves do you need??
-3º turn just after strategic choices event (no provincial legions in pool)?
-5-6º turn for the no minor states help options?
-A save for Kastor double leader? (different game as in this test run i don't forgot to select a choice)
All of them?
For the scripts... should i attach the whole scripts folder or just some file in particular?

Thanks for the fast reply! :)
PS: i guess there is no way of fixing this with some easy file editing, isn't it? should i propose my opponent to start over?

Hi

The safest would be to start again and make the right choice

Although I think that if you open the console (~ key), and type ForceEvent evt_nam_PMP_EasternLegions, then quit, the intended consequences would be OK.

As to the rest, the issue I am having trouble identifying is the Kastor :) - although probably only tomorrow I will be able to check...

You can post all script folder

Regards and sorry

Hi Franciscus!
Forcing that event could also solve the problem with Asia Minor states contingents options? If so, it's worth trying! :)
I will try to reproduce the double Kastor and post a save and scripts.
Thanks for your help! :)

I think yes - in the next turn - but have not had time to try.

Beware though - your oponent might think you now know how to "cheat" ;)

Hush! ;)
Don't worry, i will ask him about it first! :D
Now, won't you know any console code that gave me some Terminator Legions or some Panzer Division or the like?? it could be useful against Julius Caesar...

Hi Franciscus!
Here you have saves and scripts for the double Kastor problem.
It seems Kastor starts the scenario on Ancyra, stacked with a lone militia unit (not in the main Galatian stack) and when Pompey chooses the galatian help option, another Kastor arrives with this force while the original Kastor remains with the milita.

Thanks Franciscus!
Finally we did not used the console trick you suggested (we were afraid some problem because of it further down the road), but went back to turn 3 (we were on only on turn 6) and i made sure to select an option for the Pompey Strategic Choices this time around!
Now i have my eastern legions and my allied contingents...

Regards!
