Could the Option to 'choose a HQ' be added?

Fri May 31, 2013 6:09 pm

Hi again,

This is probably AGE engine related but if a potential Corp is within attachment range of 2 HQ's the 'declare unit a corp" button gives the closest HQ as the only option. Could the other HQ be added as another choice?

Example - I have had a Don Cossack force lead by a 2 star leader slightly closer to the Volunteer Army but still within attachment range of the Cossack Army. Attaching to Volunteer Army is the only option until the unit maneuvers closer to Cossack Army which then becomes the only HQ option.
Thanks :)

Yes, this would be very good. It would be more realistic this way and help gameplay--I've been frustrated in situations where I couldn't attach to the more appropriate general.

Rather than set up a new button, perhaps just alternate which Army general within range the corps is attached to. So if you don't like which one it first picks, you detach and the attach again.

As you said, it is an AGE redesign, and i'm not sure this feature will be a priority, since you can still do this trick which can solve the problem most of the time :

1) Remove the Army status of the one you don't want to manage your corp.
2) In your corp stack, select the "form a corp" button to be part of the other Army in the area.
3) Then re-select the Army button in the stack of the previous Army you just "removed" in 1). If you do this in the same turn, you shouldn't have the malus which comes when you remove the Army command from a leader.

Ok I understand...I was afraid it was AGE related and therefore a more complicated fix. Thanks for looking into it. :)

On AGEOd engine in general, I am not happy with how "Armies" work.

Basically if I take a commander (2 stars) in the Volga, attach him to an army on the Volga then send him to say the Baltic states, I have no CP penalty, even though it would take 3 months to receive orders.

This creates gamey method of taking a 2-stars leader, bringing him close to a CiC, clicking that one button, and then bringing him back to the other side of the map. Where he will keep his CP bonus until I change CiC on the other side of the map.

Makes little sense, I would LOVE if basically, you could attach a commander to any CIC, but he would get the CP malus the moment he gets too far from the CiC, so the trick above would be pointless.

Yep, the old version of RoP was prone to that abuse. Bring a Swede near to a French commander, bless him with 'army' status and then he'd go back and lead the Swedes as if it was an army. I believe the only cost is that you lose access to the CinC's bonuses but retain the gains of being an army/corps.
