Regarding Patches, DLC´s

Hi everybody,

I have a few questions regarding your games. I own 3 of your titles: BoA, Napoleon´s campaigns and PoN. These are all retail versions in german language.

1. Is the "legacy patch" for BoA an "all inclusive" Patch and is it possible to install it over my German retail version?

2. The same with NC and PoN? What are thenewest Patches, and any Problems with a non english version.

3. And this may sound funny, because I already own 3 of your games: I love your games, but heaven above, I´m to stupid for them.
But I really really would like to learn them. So are there ANY good tutorials, tips or whatever how to get started? Videos? And with what of my 3 games should I start?

4. If anybody has advices for my problem Nr.3, and I got it solved: Maybe in a bright future (meaning "bright" in case of my brain...), I would like to buy some of your DLC´s. Can I use them with my games?

5. Is it possible to buy any boxed versions on your website (I´m oldschool...)?

can't advise on patches and language but it should be possible with the WiA. PoN is patched to 1.3 and then there have been 4 hotfixes, all you need to do is installl to 1.3 and then apply the last hotfix.

You could try some AARs. There are two (unfortunately on the Paradox forum but you don't need to register to read them) here and here on WiA as PBEMs between myself and Narwhal. The second is a real 'for beginners' AAR as it was the first time I'd played WiA and my first PBEM.

For PoN there are two Sardinia-Piedmont/Italy AARs on this forum (link to one is in my signature) and there are more scattered around the AGEOD AAR forum over on the Paradox site.

For both games, and NCP, don't be afraid to ask, someone will know or help you out ...

Also, start your play with BOA. The game mechanics are the easiest to use. The game is most straightforward of all.

saberrider, if you want a relaxed game of Pride of Nations you can also join our ongoing multiplayer game (see in the PBEM section of the forum) as a minor nation. This might help you get the grips with the most complex of AGEOD titles (PON) while Q&Aing with the other players on an ongoing game. Of course it is slow (one turn a day) but obviously you can play other games as well.

but I´m still trying to understand the very BASICs of the game engine. I tried BoA today, and jesus, I was so bad.
I think PoN wouldn´t make much sense at the moment.

saberrider, I read the first few posts of the aar's on italy, (there are two good ones here on this forum), then played my own games trying to replicate what I had just read. Then I read it again, played some more, learned some more.

Hint: Try to concentrate on learning some specific stuff, like economy, and leave all the other stuff out for another game.

First of all I would recommend that you learn to control and manipulate the <F4> screen by help of the <B> screen and the <T> screen(s). With these you can buy what you cannot produce, and see what structures you have to build so that you can produce what you cannot buy - more or less. Play some short games where you ignore everything else, until you get a feel for this. Don't try to learn everything in one go.

I prioritized as follows:
1) Get a grip on the economy (production, trade, colonial economy boosters etc.)
2) Get a grip on military matters (organize units, create supply networks (depots, coaling stations))
3) Get a grip on colonial matters (this is where I am now).
4) Make some money, buy some soldiers, take over the world! (coming soon)

Hint: Look at tool tips!!! The most important bits of information are very often to be found in some obscure tool tip, and nowhere else.

I think perhaps this is the most difficult-to-learn game that I have ever encountered. It even beats Dwarf Fortress and Aurora. But don't despair, it is a very rich and rewarding game!!!

my plan was to learn the military stuff first, because I own BoA and NC. after I understand that, I will take the big step towards PoN.
