Wow I have to go back to my Commodor Amiga Days LOL :)

1 AGE series ( mostly RUS and AACW)
2 Combat Mission Series
3 Second Front ( dated by todays standards but an amiga version of War in the East; may have even been made by G.Grigsby)
4 M1 tank platoon and Gunship (Microprose) also dated
5 Silent Service ( Microprose sub sim) again dated

There are certainly better sims now and I have a few but nothing compares to the first time I dove deep and heard the creaking hull and the destroyer escorts coming closer or looked around as the tank commander and saw an anti tank missle heading toward me.. nothing to do but kiss my *** goodbye. Yes there are better games today but the fact that I remember these 30 years later says an awful lot! :D

Edited to correct Microprose not Microsoft :bonk:
AGE games I own; RUS ,AJE, BOR, H:ToR, AACW, WIA, ROP,NC, CWII, Espana 1936, TYW

I remember about some of the games you mention... great memories... specially Gunship (I mention that game and the "Comanche" series also comes to my mind :D ) and Silent Service... but weren't these two from MicroPROSE? (not MicroSOFT ;) )

1. Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2, for story and gameplay, I love watch Esport game.
2. Mass Effect 1+2+3 : 1 and two I play in the same time and after 6 month I finish that with Mass Effect 3 the trilogie and evolution of Character is really big. The universe is also big as star wars. Kill or not kill this charactare is a fake choice, but the immersion is just the best immersion I see on the game of all game to play, and romance story is really good ^^.
3. Ageod game, WIA-ROP-PON, maybe AACW I just begin PBM game on this game so I see.
4. In the same place because to much play to this two game : heart of iron 3 and Distant Worlds
5. World of Warcraft because I play 6 years on this game and for raid and pvp is really good, 40 men to kill Ragnaros is my best memory multiplayer experience.

In no particular order.

Elder Scrolls Morrowind + Oblivion. If you could throw the Morrowind data on the updated engine used in Oblivion, even better.
Battlefield 2.
Full Throttle, mainly because it was hilarious. Same goes for the first couple of Spacequest games.
Baldur's Gate 1+2
Nobunaga's Ambition for Nintendo.

1. Advanced Squad Leader - no better tactical simulation in board gaming. A large community of gamers, very active community publishing, rules system that covers absolutely everything you could conceivably do with small units in WWII.
2. World in Flames - no better strategic board game of WWII. The political "add-on module" called Days of Decision is a little wild, but straight out of the box the basic game is compelling, and there is also a very active community suggesting new rules and developing new unit types, and the company supports the system. The current "final edition" is about to be modified once again... :) The long-promised computer WiF from Matrix will probably never appear, but thank God for VASSAL that has allowed me to have a WiF game going pretty much all the time from around 2000 to this very weekend.
3. The AGE games, especially RUS and AACW.
4. Twilight Struggle. I have recently been introduced to the card-based strategy model, and I really liked it. Thought it was a good choice as a system for the Cold War.
5. Minecraft. Hypnotizing. Kids love it - it is the first game I have been able to play with all three of my kids with equal enjoyment for all parties.

No way! I remember buying EU3 with great anticipation, loading up as the Russians (good early choice as they don't have too many options to confuse you), and waiting for Ivan the Terrible. No Ivan? No Michael Romanov? No Peter the Great? The Poles have good kings and leaders? And there isn't even an option for a historical leader set? I tossed the DVD irritably to the floor and never played again. What a waste of money! I wish they had said somewhere more clearly that this was a fantasy game set on a map of the world rather than trying to sell it as a historical simulation game.

Are we only talking about video games? I thought this was open to any game.

I should have made the thread title more specific. Top five 'games' is pretty vague, as can be seen by all the answers people give. GAMES can cover a hell of a lot of ground.

Actually, there is an historical leader option, and you are being a bit rough. I am OK with a game not having the exact same serie of leaders everytime you plan. If you wage fewer war, Gustave Adolphus survives longer, and it would change all the serie of the Swedish kings, for instance.

I'm just doing the events for ruler succession in the Aurelian scenario and I saw this post. If a leader died in battle then I don't kill him off at a fixed date by event, if he was murdered or died of illness then I do - but maybe I should make it a % chance around the date rather than exact. Would players then think the scenario poor if leaders were around longer than historically? Sorry a bit off topic!

Cheers,
Chris

I rather like the idea that historical leaders should not survive past their real-life span. I mean if dead by conspiracy, murder, plague or tortoises dropped by eagles on a specific date, these sorts of things are best left out of the Player's hands or left purely to chance. That said, if there are conspiracy events to remove specific leaders costing EP's or treasure and that are then optional for the Player (or the AI) then all bets are off and King Dogmeat can hang in there forever unless the games' weregild is paid.

1. Fallout 1, 2 and NV. I don´t include Fallout 3, the only thing I like about it is that allowed Obsidian making NV.
2. Hitman Games. The last is the worst, but still has magic in it. I always look for the "perfect execution".
3 Age games: (BoA 2 and AJE mostly)
4 Europa Universalis 2. I never spent so many hours playing a game like with the good old EU2. :)
5 Thief (specially 1 and 2). I´m sad because the forth game seems to be in a limbo. No news for years. :(

Special mentions to:

6 Gothic (I and II): one of my best memories playing games: the first time I entered the "old camp" in Gothic I; it was so full of life!

7 Witcher (I :coeurs: Geralt of Rivia) Right now I am re-reading the first book.

8 NBA 2K (the my player mode is fun  and playing with MJ really rocks!)

No doubt I am.

The historical leader option is available in a dlc, Napoleon's Ambition. I wasn't going to put more money into the game after being so disappointed.

I actually did play the game to completion. I took the Incas, did cheat a bit to make the surrounding areas visible so I could start exploring, got the exploration national characteristic, and by the 1700s we were Catholics, had European-level technology, and had elected at least one Inca Pope. So much for Guns, Germs, and Steel. Having satisfied my fantasy game bug, I put the game away, and ultimately gave it to a friend. I think he has played it a bit.

EU2, on the other hand, was a fine game. I really enjoyed it and played it very extensively.

FNAF 4 APK (Five Nights at Freddy's 4 APK) The sound and sound effects in the game are also very good, creating quite a scary and attractive space.
