Texture hosting errors

Sun Apr 22, 2007 12:13 pm

Hi!

I've been hit now about 3 or 4 times with texture hosting errors.

The last one error stated: "error creating texture hosting_scale140"

I have now begun loging which textures are causing the errors but it always appears during the winter and "apparently" snow textures.

I just reported this in beta forum. Yap, it has something to do with winter. I know that one of my few critical errors was because of the snow on Bahamas :niark:

I don't belive this is a serious problem and belive and hope that it will be solved in matter of day or two :siffle:

Godspeed
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

Nope...

it's not a major problem. We just need to identify which textures are having problems.

There is "something else" that triggers this... I'm not sure what yet. I tried to reproduce the error and was unable to do it. My initial thought was that it is associated with scrolling, but I think there is something else as well.. like zoomed in or zoomed out (different textures I would think).

If I can figure it out, I'll let you know and until then report any other errors like this I see.

Maybe I should have posted this in the bug thread...

Cheers!

Seems to happen on some computers, when at the end of hosting the weather change and the game need a massive amount of new images into memory (the winterized regions). Some cards have trouble here, because after the load, they are supposed to have them all in memory, but are not, so the message: 'texture missing' = supposed to be loaded but are not.

This can be a nasty issue...

Pocus mate...

Okay, I'm getting all kinds of CTD's and errors from both critical to texturing and twice now completely corrupted video. All of these problems "appear" to be happening at max zoom out or when I hit the next turn button.

I have a Radeon X600 256mb video card, 2 gigs of ram and a P4 2.8 Ghz processor.

Are you saying that my video card (I know it ain't the greatest but it does fine with games like BF2142) can't handle AACW?

Not I won't say that because your card is theorically powerful enough to run the game. I ran it without problem on a 5700 nvidia, and some beta have older cards.

I'm not trying to say this is the card fault. The fact is that on some computers, the combination of hardwares, drivers dates and operating system generate problems that won't be seen on others machines. Thanks Microsoft for all the DirectX related problems that all game developers have since DirectX 1.0.

Send me your DxDiag please, perhaps I can see things that can be improved. Make sure you swap file is big enough, and that you have enough disk space both your system partition and the AACW one. Last, you can try to uncheck the High Memory setting from the Options/System menu of AACW

Same kind of problem for me - "error creating texture" [...] then a CTD. But since then, I can't reload any saved games. When I click on 'load' I get this message:

Yes. I've got an ATI RADEON X300, but my setting is already on 'Small Textures'...

BTW... Can't send my save.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, with an ATI X1600 256 mb RAM, and with textures reduced. (Been having problems with the #%$? textures since the beggining... :p leure :)

Sent the log to Pocus by e-mail.

Hope there is a solution, as this turns this game unplayable... :grr:

Asa, I see that your video driver is from 2004. You have to update it. I have uploaded the fixed saved game to you.

Franciscus I will look at your issue too.
