These are two of my favorites.

Crucible of War: The Seven Years' War and the Fate of Empire in British North America, 1754-1766 by Fred Anderson

The French and Indian War: Deciding the Fate of North America (P.S.) by Walter R. Borneman

I should have provided this resource, too.
It is full of good, accessible information, maps, historical accounts and links.

If you go to the British Library website there is an ipad app (free) you can download which gives you access to some copies of military history books including one specifically on the Peqot War.

There are others on the US Civil War and Napoleonic Peninsula War too.

Thanks. Is there a way to read those books without an iPad/iPhone/Mac ?

@ bernadotte

iPad only it seems. Version now available has a wider selection of books but a monthly subscription. The original selection of nineteenth century books does still seem to be free.

I am not too sure about seeing Apple take 30% revenue from my UK tax subsidised British Library!
