Surprise event

Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:58 pm

Hi Calvinus.

Played surprise event as German defender in Metz. Expected to get a -3 applied to the combat roll however got a +3 as can be seen from the attached image. This was the early August turn using 1.08m.

The final modified dice result should have been 8 not 14.

Regards,
Rob

I see the message refers to French unit committed in battle, and I see a -3. Provided you played the surprise event, it seems ok: the attacker is suffering a -3 die roll penalty... What's wrong?

The German defender (me) played the suprise event. If its correct then I don't get it. The original dice roll was 9, this was modified by +4 for the firepower of the French attacker and then by -2 for the firepower of the German defender, which gives us a modified roll of 11. Then the log says that the roll is modified by -3 for the surprise event so the dice roll should go to 8 but instead its modified to 14. High rolls favour the attacker, if the defender is playing surprise event the roll should be modified down.

Calvinus,

A simple way to look at this is take the original dice roll of 9 and apply the dice roll modifiers in the log. What should be the final modified dice roll ? I believe it should be 8 but the log indicates 14.

Ok now I see the error is in the net total, but it looks the final result is really weird, the calculation seems a nonsense... I'll try to reproduce the bug. Thanks.
