FI navies.

I was just wondering what people tend to do with their navies.

If its a combo or something please share.

The last time I got FI I used it to battle the Union Navies. I was able to raid Union shipping easily with just a few frigates. Basically, the blockade was shattered because my opponent had to use his entire Navy to fight the Brits and French. He actually won most of the Naval battles. If they put enough resources into it, the Union Navy can pack a punch. I eventually wore him down and gained Naval superiority.

Against AI I use it both ways as AI is no human opponent - so agaist Union Shiping and to blockade run. Against my human opponenst I only go for breaking blockade options and park any steam frigates in particular in blockade boxes - my runners tend to last longer that way!

I use it to keep my armies in Canada Supplied and to destroy Union Shipping. I usually use my British Army to invade Michigan and New York State out of Canada, and no I don't make any crazy invasions of Boston or anything like that. I send a token Division to fight on the Virginian front. I use the French Army to Conquer Mexico and thats about it.

Is this discussion pretaining only to Confederates? Cause I'm a Northerner forever... I form an army of my NY USMCs and a supply wagon and march them to Ohio!

You use your fleet to prevent US from crossing Florida ?

Who check this strategy ? You have to built battle ships, how strong you have to be ?

I didn't think about this utilisation of the southern fleet !

I usually send the French fleet to Washington, DC. Then I use the British force and keep it in reserve unless I need help around New Orleans or some port on the East Coast.

Usually my navies defend New Orleans and all the rivers in the CSA, though.

I have yet to seriously experiment with FI but I imagine I would maintain supply in Canada as a priority (being a Canuck, of course) and go after Union shipping as I usually tend to build up a substantial CSA fleet under Semmes doing this in any case. Either support Semmes in the Atlantic or go after the Union blockade fleet in the Gulf in particular.
