Question: 1776 Carolinas Scenario - Frustration in the South

Thu Dec 16, 2010 10:34 pm

I decided to start with the above scenario since it is small and doesn't have a lot of units to manage. When the scenario ended, I controlled both objectives (Wilmington and Charleston) and controlled 3 of the 7 strategic towns. So, I fullfilled the objectives condition and the strategic towns condition (only 2 were required). I lost the scenario on points 23 to 36.

I thought that if you met the conditions you would win the scenario. You can lose the scenario on points even if you meet all the objectives and the strategic towns condition?

I think I won all but one battle I engaged in. Did I just take too long to capture the objectives and strategic cities and let the computer accumulate too many points? Since there are only 5 turns, it would seem difficult to do it much faster.

Is this a tough won to win as the Brittish or since I couldn't win this one am I pretty pathetic at this game?

Thanks

Ok, I played again. I captured the objectives and was down 10 points, but I won because it said the enemy national moral was shattered.

There isn't any indication of what the enemy's national moral is, correct? A player doesn't know when he is getting close to shattering the enemy morale?

Since my win wasn't on my first play though of the scenario, it feels cheap. During my first play though I saw what troops were where so I know what to expect. Of course the AI can move differently (and it did), but it is a lot easier when you know what the enemy has.

Is this the nature of the game? Are the turn limits pretty strict so it is rare to be able to win on the first try, but once you know where things are it is much easier to win?

You can see the nemy morale in the same screen as the one where you see who owns the objectives (one of the F? key - F5 maybe). It is on the upper part of the left page.
