Where is Robert Howe?

Fri Jan 29, 2010 4:52 pm

As the less-than-stellar commander of the Southern Dept. for the first half of the war, he's not exactly a minor figure. His model and unit info are in the data files, and he apparently shows up with some militia at Camden in the '76 campaign, but I've never seen him in the '75 campaigns I've played. Oversight or WAD?

He should arrive April 76 in Eyles Ford, VA with 1st Virginia Militia and Supplies.

Both 75 and 76 Campaigns share this event, so it would be extra wierd if he didn't show in one.

Don't think I've ever seen him or that regiment in the game...

Maybe that's because holding onto Virginia, particularly anything west of Petersburg seems to be very hard in 76 with Dunmore. In my current game, after great successes in the north (controlling most of New England and New York) I still only managed to re-capture the Yorktown, Norfolk, Petersburg etc. area with a 10 battalion force under Clinton. That is in 77. So assuming I'd have to control Eyles Ford, VA to get the other Howe and that Virginia regiment in 76 I'd never stand a chance...

All of this time I've been assuming this Howe is British or Torry. Am I wrong, if so I don't know whether he has appeared in my games as I haven't played the Continentals and Rebels much yet in WiA...

Just opened the American Apr 76 turn in my pbem game and checked Eyles Ford, called for Robert Howe, but answer came there none. Is there some condition on the event which isn't being met? BTW, in the game I'm now playing, Eyles Ford is 100% controlled by US, so whatever the problem it's not enemy control.

Argh! Scripting error [subtle one: common event name can be reused under condition that occurrances is = 999 but date is fixed. This one was set occurances = 1 :bonk: ]

Will correct in next patch or interim update...

Sorry that I didn't believe you!!!!! :o
