Sorry Arsan. We just talked about the game Strength & Honour 2 by Magitech that Anguille play at the moment. He's writing an AAR on the Paradox forum about this game.
I've asked him questions about the games' features and the battle module and if it's worthwhile the price.
If you want some informations about this game, click on his signature for a link to the game's page. It looks promising too !! ;)
And there is also a demo available, but the file is about 1.73 Go !! :(

Arsan...sorry

@ Darthmath

I've just written a review on the game at wargamer which shows my opinion on the game.

strength and honour 2 review

In 2009, i've played 3 games by them (Sango 2, Takeda 3 and S&H2) and i really enjoy them. The AI is imho fairly good and i have lost many battles. Anyway, if you have more questions than what is in my review, go ahead. ;)

About the price, i think the cheapest it to buy it directly from Magitech and you'll get a physical copy. If you prefer the online edition, you'll have to get the gamersgate version which is more expensive.

Cheers

PS: i made a short break for my AAR as i was writting the review
PS2: as you said...can't say much about the other game as i think the dev talked too much...but i'll keep you guys posted as soon as something will be officially announced. All i know is this:

The Rome game is a total new game. It is more a pure strategy game in the spirit of Europa Universalis or Civilization game, pure PC

Which is something i look forward to.

Hi!

in another forum i just learned that the game is not a new game system, but a boardgame conversion :bonk:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/10914/hannibal-rome-and-carthage-in-the-second-punic-war

The PC game looks nicer, no doubt! ;)
But this make have some doubts about the system being possibly modified and tweaked in the future to use on other bigger games...

Cheers

Thanks and congratulations for your game's review. Informative and objective work !! :)
I'm strongly thinking about an acquisition in a short period of time. ;)
I've seen that it's free-shipping worldwide, it's a very good news too !! By the way, in how many days did you receive your game ?
As you wrote, I would also prefer a more detailled map on the European theater. 2 or 3 additional cities in Italy would have been great and some in Gaul, Spain, Germania and Africa too. On a counter-part, I'm a little afraid by the characters' management of a great Empire !!
A more realistic military part would have pleased me too. Conquering the whole world with 5.000 or 10.000 men seems a little ... well ... inappropriate ... :D
And one last word. Did you manage to take Roma with your Syracusean army ? :)

Regarding the new game on Rome, I will follow that too. A more strategic and military oriented game would be cool.

And for Arsan, it seems that the Hannibal game is a real copy/paste of this boardgame. As you said, I'm also more and more worried about a possible engine adaptation for a more ambitious project.

It depends...for example, they sent me Sango 2 and Takeda 3 on the same day and it took 1 week to Sango 2 to come to my place while it took almost 3weeks to Takeda 3...maybe some guy in a post office wanted to play?

As i mentionned in the introduction, S&H 1 has a lot more cities. It's a fun game but very long and the battles look very very old now. That, and the management is fairly complex. I still play it from time to time for the reason you mention.

DarthMath wrote:On a counter-part, I'm a little afraid by the characters' management of a great Empire !!

It's really not so complex. But if you want to do it right, its an aspect that requires some time. You feel also more bond to your generals & governors. As for armies, i like to keep 2-3 armies with my best men and various cities auto-built by the AI.

If you refer to my AAR which i will update shortly...no, i didn't manage to take Rome :siffle:

Thanks for the advice. I can reassure you, though, that there already is a production plan in place for Imperium (and a couple of fallback plans), awaiting the day that I finally consider enough to be enough. I do not intend to iterate over this game much more. The main reason for the epic development time is that I'm a foolish perfectionist. I'm in therapy for that, as evidenced by the fact that I released the tech demo of Imperium Mini. :bonk:

Regards,

Michael A.

P.S. The last part was a joke. I don't need therapy... well, I don't think I do, at least. :neener:
