supply

Sat Jan 09, 2010 7:41 am

I know this game uses a simple supply system, SIC, but I was wondering if one could manufacture supply wagons... I know we can build forts /depots plus a host of EP requests, but do cities produce them? IE can I increase the likelyhood of them showing up?

Hi Freeboy
Most of your supply wagons will be given to you by events or in historical reinforcements.
But from time to time you will be able to buy some wagon spending EP's in one of the buy options you will find on the ledger.
Of course, you can also capture enemy wagons... its a good source! ;)
Cheers

PD: to understand how the WIA supply sistem works in WIA check this threads

It's simpler than on AACW, but it's very important as you will be fighting in areas with very little supply. Feeding your troops in the wilderness can became a feat!

no offense meant but I read and re read those threads before posting my ? and they really do nta ddress the PRACTICAL way supply works...
in principle, troops that do not move or fight use less supply.. and ports cities forts adepots creat supply...
Seems like supplies do bleed over and are caried, ie bleed from one area to another and troops carry some with them.. but a true exhaustive explaination has not been found by this reader.. is there one? Thanks again!!!

Chapter 10 on the manual gives a pretty exhaustive explanation of the Supply system. Have you looked at it??

That and the given links explain nearly everything i think :bonk:
What are you missing?? Ask any doubt and we will try to answer.
Oh, and check the supply icon tooltip (over the unit panel, on the right) to know the supply a given stack has with them and its consumption.
Cheers
PS: units consume the same supply whether they move and fight or not, for what i know. Soldiers have to eat even if they don't do much else ;)
Ammo will only be used on battles of course.

perhaps they are not the links you think? I read them and really they do not say much???
I re readthe manual... I think the vagueness will dissapate as the game experience grows.. thanks again.

Here is an example...hol long does it take to fully resupply a depleted ammo for a unit, from each supply source? If the source cannot do an entire army in the region, how does the game deside which units and is there anything a layer can do to influence where suppliees go?
What does happen when a fleet as sea builds a depot?

They are the best links about supply i have! ;) :D

Fleets at sea cannot build depots... Thats pretty evident, isn't it?? ;)
A turn is enough to resupply a stack or unit lacking supply or ammo if there is enough for them in their region or adjacent regions.
If the supply produced is not enough, it may take several turns until the excess supply (beyond what they consume each turn) slowly refills their stocks.
How many turns it takes depends of the supply excess produced.
You can't decide which unit will receive supply and which will not in a stack or region.
In any case, in a stack all units will share supply among them, so no unit will starve if it is stacked with other units with supply.
The best example of this are supply wagons. They don't use up any supply but carry a lot that they will pass to the other units of the stack to use.
Cheers

PD: a very important tip that probably is not in the manual or the other links :w00t: :
- A damaged stack (after a battle or by straggling) will not recover missing hits or take new elements unless they have their supply stocks at 100%.
So if you have an army in a structure that has barely enough supply production to feed them, but not to top their supply stocks, they will not recover casualties. You will have to go to a better supply source or send part of the troops to other place so the supply needs are lower.
Cheers

 I haven't seen the build depot button lighted up on a sea region in my 3 years playing AGEOD games :bonk:
Are you sure you are not talking about ships docked at a port??
What version are you playing?? Could you post a picture of that build a depot at sea thing??
