Diplomatic option problem

Tue Dec 15, 2009 5:54 pm

In a PBEM I'm playing against Vegetius, we are in February 1778 and Foreign Intervention is at 48.

As british player, I used the "Influence in Europe" (name translated from french) diplomatic option. The information text says that foreign intervention will be lowered by 1 per turn for six month.

But after the turn resolution, foreign intervention is now 0 (zero) :confused:

Is it a known bug or is the text explaining the option misleading ?

There are many events that affect FI...

The most insidious is the "perfidious Albion/Vergennes" events:

= As soon as FI is 50 or higher [even for a moment during event processing], there starts a 25% chance per turn that FI will drop by 50 [Perfidious Albion]

You should see a message:
"La diplomatie britannique essaie d'organiser une coalition en Europe."
{British diplomacy tries to establish a coalition in Europe.}

= Then, starting 6 months later, and as soon as FI is at least 20, there starts a 25% chance per turn that FI will increase by 50 [the Vergennes event]

This will give you a message:
"Le Comte de Vergennes a réussi à apaiser les tensions en Europe."
{The Comte de Vergennes has managed to appease the tensions in Europe.}

If this does not explain what you see, please send to support@ageod.com a saved game [include the Backup1 and Backup2 subfolders] for the turn you see this strange result....

I've checked the messages list and found the "perfidious Albion" event. This explain the new FI value.

Thanks for your help Lodilefty.
