Trent Affair Escalation problem

Thu Nov 05, 2009 3:56 pm

Playing 1.15 as USA vs. Athena, an event triggered that I have never seen before: The Trent Affair Escalates.

The problem is that the +35 foreign entry went the wrong way. Before the event fired, the f.i. level was +5; after the event fired, it went to -30 instead of the expected +40.

First time I see that too !! But that could be a cool event if it worked !! :)
It seems that a lot of Foreign Intervention events have some problems. With the "normal" Trent Event, after the release of the two southern diplomats, the event shows a +5 FI points but it results of a -5 points.
Same thing with the French Intervention in Mexico. I think it's about 10 points for the Confederacy, but in fact these points are substracted. And that's the case since the beginning, whatever the game's version.
Is any member of the staff able to communicate on that issue, please ?
Thanks. :)

To bump my own thread...

From what I've read in Lincoln and His Admirals, it's (1) almost impossible to believe that Lincoln would NOT have apologized and (2) almost certain that the Brits would have declared war had Lincoln not done so. But that's more of a discussion for the history threads. I think I'll make a recommendation for an option in the AACW2 thread.

This has perhaps to do with a complete rework of the logic of adding or removing intervention points in the code (done at least one a year ago) to be really consistent... and some events were perhaps forgotten, and thus not rewritten to cope with the change.
Alas, we won't be able to fix anything on past games before the new year perhaps, because of some contingencies.

There is always the option to reverse the number, events are just text files after all and several modders could do that I believe.
