Number of Days to Enter (this region only)

Sun Oct 11, 2009 11:53 pm

I thought there used to be a tooltip when hovering over a region that gave you a message like this. Now I can't find it. Am I old, crazy (or both), or is it no longer there? I'm playing QF6 and whatever patch it was supposed to be installed over.

Oh and BTW something is still weird with battle results, NM reports, and wins/losses regarding promotions. They conflict when one force is shown as being "defeated" in game but destroy elements from the other side. The wrong side is still reported as losing/gaining NM. I know we want a finalized patch so just a note for future rework/AACW2. I also know there are threads on this but at this point I don't see much point in searching for it (again).

Q1: do you have a stack selected?
Q2: The loser is the stack that retreats from the field, regardless of casualties. Casualties are used to determine the level/type of victory/defeat, such as pyrrhic or decisive. Destroying elements always results in NM gain for the destroying side; ignore the message.

Yes:

I used to see this "days to enter" info but no longer do.

Understood, my point was just that the message is still wrong; Pocus at one point confirmed everything was WAD except the mailbox msg. Also, despite the "defeat", all my leaders got "congratulated for the victory" and received seniority points or promotions. So the NM and leader rewards are in direct opposition to the report of the battle defeat...

None of these are game breakers, but if a new player encountered them I can imagine a large amount of confusion...

Anyway, thanks for the reply enf.

Huh, and I can see the stack's not one of those static infantry stacks. Hopefully this is one of the things being checked for the legacy patch.

The tooltip should be back in the next patch.

The same happened to me in my last game several times... 1.14c

From my experience there are situations where you lose a battle and some of the Generals still get suggested for promotion. I chalked it up to their exceptional behavior in battle. There are just no reports about such even if you win.

I've also won battles and still retreated with the attacking force. That or the attacking force was following part of the defending force which moved from the region at the moment I attacked. I guess it depends on the intricacies of the battle resolution module.

Historically if you look at Prentiss holding the 'Hornet's Nest' at Shiloh for seven hour but in the end having the salient surrender with about 2200 men might be such an occurrence.

I guess if you really want to know what is happening in the battle you will have to get the http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=14328 and look at the details.

BTW I've also noticed that the 'days to enter' tool-tip disappeared. I didn't really miss it that much as you still need to actually plan the move to see the actual calculation of the movement cost because I believe the tool-tip doesn't take crossing minor rivers etc. into account.

I'm playing with 1.14f at the moment and the tool-tip is back, so I guess you'll just have to be patient on the next patch.
