Should McClellan's rise to leadership be dependent on McDowell's Bull Run results?

Yes... I'd like to see McClellan's leadership dependent on McDowell's Bull Run results.

No... Leave it as close as possible to the historical circumstances with no McDowell regards.

Shouldn't McClellan's rise also be dependent on his own (moderate) successes? Would it be a good idea to make the event dependent on McClellan being up for promotion (i.e. start him off so close to promotion that even a single victory will push him over the top)?

I'd also unlock McClellan earlier. In most of my Union games, he barely gets a turn or two out of Cincinnati before the event fires...

Not really possible. A moderate success isn't assuring a seniority promotion. I linked the replacement process to the control of Manassas at a given date.

Surprisingly, this took care of itself, in the new (v1.13e) version of the game. Remember, you can't form Corps until the early spring 1862, regardless of rank AND he was utilized by McClellan as a division commander for a while before being upgraded to a Corps commander once they became a real formation in 1862.

Right, that's why I said demoted to a lower command, not a lower rank. :)
