Updated Map

Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:48 am

I was wondering if anyone could provide us with the jpeg of ingame map with all states and cities. We had something like that but map I have is obsolete due to all changes made by Gray and crew.

Thanks in advance
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

I have had a map similar to this one
http://www.a-acw.com/images/AACWMap.jpg but it did have ingame cities on it. So, if anyone can provide something like but updated to latest patch and changes this I would appreciate it.

Gray perhaps you could help

Good idea! Should be as easy as taking a screen shot of each section of the map and putting it all together in Windows paint...I think I'll give that a shot.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Have you ever stopped to think and forgot to start??

That might be tough, it probably requires 50+ screenshots, and you have to cut out the GUI.(you may be able to use a "stiching program")
If you do get it done then.. :coeurs:

Gray,
If it is to big to zip/rar/post/host how did you get it?
Can you "cut" it into 2 parts?

By the way, it you need help at all with graphics let me know.
I can help move RR's, roads, forts, create new regions, whatever.

hmm....I never did finish a mod that named all the minor rivers.

Now here's a kicker of a project then. Download the AGEOD map...then copy and paste all of the structures onto it in paint...THEN save it as a Paint file...would that not be smaller??

IIRC the "smallest" image file format is a jpg, but if you use the most compression to make it as small as possible you lose tons of quality and it make the image almost unreadable.

For myself, don't need it to plan strategy, I would like it for modding/map improvement purposes.

That "cookie cutter" program is absolutely required to "cut out" the individual regions themselves. With a paint program, all you can do is wander all over it (meaning get lost exploring it). :D

dooh, forgot about that, oh well.
It would help give an overview of how the regions look together though.

hmm...maybe I can get it blown up and mount it to a wall

Try this zip file see if it is what you are looking for:

If you have trouble with that link go to the pages that references at:

Thanks for these Gray

A slightly off topic question, are the region bmp files saved as 24bit or 32bit?
IIRC 32bit bmp's allow for an alpha channel (transparency).

Started working on a River Names mod earlier, maybe if they turn out alright I'll post something.

Great. This is what I have been looking for :coeurs: . Is there any chance to add towns to it as well? How did they do it before? I don't remember well if someone from forum did it or AGEOD crew but that map was like yours but with towns.
Anyway, thanks once again Gray  .
