Indian relations

Love this game. Brilliant. I'm just getting into it, so I'm bound to have a few questions in the future. Here are the first three: :D

Playing the F&IW scenario (one of my favorite periods of history), I see that some of my leaders have the ability to lead Indian allies without penalty. But when putting other leaders in charge of Indian forces, I notice no obvious penalty. What is that penalty? And is it the same as that suffered by, say, a German commander leading British forces?

Ambushes: If I have a regular infantry unit included in an otherwise raider/irregular force, will he partake in a successful ambush attempt? Or will he be excluded, leaving only the irregulars to participate?

Finally, when I send a group of ambushers into an enemy region with a fort, can I set up an ambush without alerting the fort? (Or is this simply decided by hide/detection values as normal?) When I send ambushers into a wild area with a fort, I see a siege symbol, which makes me wonder whether the fort automatically sees me, negating my attempt to ambush incoming or outgoing enemy assets.

Thanks!

Hi Rexor, you should see 2 command points used up for each Indian unit commanded if a leader does not have the ability to lead Indians.

You should not be able to use ambush if you have a regular unit in the stack.
Not sure what happens if you have an irregular unit set to ambush but have a seperate regular stack in the same region. Lodi any ideas? Will the ambush be calculated before any other combat with the regular unit joining in with no bonus?

You will be spotted when moving into the same region as the enemy. To set an ambush you really need the enemy to come to you.

Cheers, Chris
