Question on Playable nations - England

I really like the feel of this game from the demo, but in the grand campaign noticed England is not playable as a nation unless you oversee the entire Entente. Either I am missing something or just out of luck.

Is England playable as a stand alone nation in the grand campaign in the full version?

No, they are not. They start the game as neutral, you see. (they do join the war very soon in 90% of cases, but with the Warplans, there are several possibilities to explore when the UK would have a harder time joining the war).

Only the major countries in the war from the very start are selectable: France, Russia, A-H, Germany.

Of course, you get to actually control all aspects of UK once it joins the Entente, if you are playing them.
