the manual mention there is a complete game manual on the cd and that the current manual is only a brief summary of the game. Does we get this manual too?
The game looks great so far. The interface is not so elegant as the games Pocus made but it is a huge improvement over Great Invasions. Congratulations to Calvinus and the whole team.

Thanks for the compliments. The big manual is not on this version unfortunately because we have been delayed by lots of other stuff...we are working on it and will send it for free to all as soon as completed...

So sorry - the PDF that came with my pre-order is not the manual - merely a "brief summary" ? Are you saying there is enough in the Brief summary to successfully understand and play the game ?

Yes.

For the "full manual" please realise, that the boardgame, of which WW1 is the complete "translation" of, has 3 thick rulebooks, a separate booklet for Diplomacy rules and charts, and separate booklets with special rules for each major countries.

Now, a lot of those things are "covered" in the game simply by menu choices and tooltips (the political choices are the most obvious example perhaps), but still, to have 4 or 5 rulebooks worth of material, and transorm it into a single piece of PC game manual, sure has to be a very hard task, something which could not be done at time.

As a temporary solution, for those who are interested in the "under the hood" details, perhaps PhilTib could see if he can host the boardgame's rules somewhere?

That is a good idea Tamas.
The game is really complex and with the board game rules it would be much easier to understand it.

Any idea when the complete manual will be finished? Perhaps setting up a detailed FAQ would be a good idea in the meantime.

Matrix says that their release scheduled today comes with a 52 page manual. The AGEOD version came with a 23 page manual. Is this a more elaborate manual and, if so, can we get it ??

A more detailed manual would be very helpful.

Frankly, I don't want to plow through the boardgame rules, just to get the concepts that may be applicable.

Actually, there aren't just concepts to look for, but most of the number-crunching as well.
