2* Admiral can create a corps?

Wed Oct 29, 2008 11:06 pm

Hi.

Just found my Admiral Buchanan can create and even lead a corps.

Yes.. it is a rare corps with just 2 CPs available... but IT IS A CORPS.. and I need all Corsps I can use.

Is this WAD?

Did admirals lead corps in real AACW?

I can't answer the question as to whether or not it's intentional, but I can show you this about Raphael Semmes:
Semmes made his way back to the Confederacy where he was promoted to rear admiral in February 1865 and, during the last months of the war, commanded the James River Squadron. With the fall of Richmond, Virginia, in April 1865, Semmes supervised the destruction of his squadron and was appointed as a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army. His sailors were turned into an infantry unit and dubbed the "Naval Brigade". The intention was to join Lee's army after burning the vessels, however, Lee's army was already cut off from Richmond and most of Semmes' men boarded a train and escaped to join Joseph E. Johnston's army in North Carolina. A few men of the Naval Brigade were able to join with Lee's rear guard and fought at Sayler's Creek. Semmes and the Naval Brigade surrendered to William T. Sherman and were paroled at Durham Station, N.C.

My guess is that it's WAD. If it is, I think it's a nice touch... although personally I won't use it (I think their more useful at sea then on land).

I have seen the same, Farragut was leading a corps were another union naval officer leading a division in the corps and it was in south west texas. I was so dumbstruck I quit the game. It was with patch 1.11g.

That's not exactly the same bug. The fixed one was about an admiral angered from being passed over for an army command. Here it seems that naval leaders can command a corps or a division. I'll investigate.
