Confused newb

Thu Sep 25, 2008 7:45 pm

I just purchased WIA and I'm playing the Pequot War scenario to get a feel for it but some things are happening and I can't figure out why. I moved the Connecticut militia to its objective with an "assault" posture and an "all-out attack" ROE. What happened was a battle which I won and the Connecticut milita's retreat into a passive mode to a neighboring province. The messages after the turn showed a "retreat before battle" followed by a battle victory. Why did they retreat and not assault the Native village?

I'm guessing your units had low cohesion from not being supplied maybe?

Hi. I'm sorry I missed this question last week :o

You did assault if you obtained a Battle Report, but likely did have low cohesion. In particular, any assault that crosses a River and assaults same turn will be very weak, as will any assault that marches a distance in Winter...

"Winning" a battle means you probably inflicted more casualties [hits] than you recieved, but it does not always mean you 'held the terrain'

Retreats, for whatever reason, always put the group into Passive mode.

I hope this helps :)
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!
