France/Great Britain go to war

Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:23 pm

Hi everybody,

I'm finishing a game in PBEM with the North and i'd like to enlight some issues about the entry in the war of France/Great Britain.

First of all, it should be interesting to add some railroad capacities to the South when France/GB join the conflict. Indeed, my opponent is very embarassed with his english corps. He can barely move them out from the Canada or anywhere else...

Another point concern the entry in war itself. In our game it's quiet ridiculous.
French and Britts come into war when the North control 75% of the CSA (Atlanta and Richmond include). Two turn later, I conquer la Nouvelle Orléans but in the same turn Great Britain takes NY city (few days before) and it becomes the new capital city of the CSA... :bonk:

The CSA in our game is now in 1864 : NY city, Charleston and a bunch of 1 level city in South Carolina.

I don't know how it can be improved...

Maybe it 'd be interesting to forbid the entry in war of France/GB when the North control two major cities out of three. Or, at least, lower the foreign entry level when the North conquers one of the 3 major cities.

I can't imagine a French/English diplomat going to war against Union when South is barely standing. ;)

About NYC being the capital: I checked the code and I forgot to test for a minimum loyalty for the capital candidates. So you can consider this is a loophole in the code (ok a bug, let's call it like that :) ) and this is fixed.

About the conditions of intervention and adding some free rail points, it is about altering events mostly.

The British do give you some economic aid when they intervene I saw an event fire in my most recent game. I was making enough money to upgrade my railroad network signicantly a few months after British and French intervention. I was playing on Normal difficulty. I even invested in some minor industry.
