Help needed please with Update

Wed May 28, 2008 9:37 pm

Hello,

I have looked around the posts here to find similar questions. I did get a bit lost in the many threads, so I figured I would start a new post (maybe it will help others who have the problem).

Firstly, I want to say thank you for making such a great games series (I have American Civil War and Birth of America). You guys really make incredible games!

Ok, my problem is that I had the game working and I played through it once successfully. I then downloaded the patch 1.10 and when I started a new game as CSA, the game would always crash as it would go into the 3rd turn (Early May, I guess).

I read the forums and decided to uninstall both the patch and the game. I re-installed the game and the patch but unfortunately, the same thing is happening. It has happened repeatedly and I do not know what to do.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks!

Hi BillyJack, and welcome to the forums :)

Under the directory where you have installed the game, you should see a directory named "ACW" and under is "Logs". Within the log-directory, there should be a file named "main". right after you have experienced a crash, can you take the contents of it and either post or attach to a post here?

Here's the crucial part:
5:30:57 PM [Critical ] TAIEngine.Process Exception caught: Violation d'accès à l'adresse 006702F7 dans le module 'AACW.exe'. Lecture de l'adresse 00000008

5:30:57 PM [Error ] THost.LoadHostFile One or more error while generating AI files. Check the logs

I don't know what it means; hopefully one of the devs will take a look at it soon :)

Ok, thanks for taking a look...

What are 'devs'...

I guess I should have mentioned this before, but when the game loads up it says version 1.10a

Should it say 1.10b?

And if so, how do I get that version?

I appreciate the help...

Ah, sorry; "devs" is short for "developers", i.e. those who are programming the game engine and know its various odds and ends, and are the best suited for tracking down game engine problems :)

Yes

You'll always find the latest patch at http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/AACW_Patch.zip
I appreciate the help...

Hope it'll be enough to get your game running properly :)

Hi BillyJack2008,

can you please download the 1.10b patch again? There was a problem with the initially posted version which could possibly be the reason for your crash.

Cheers
Norbert :cwboy:

Problem fixed!

It appears that I only needed to restart my computer before 1.10b registered in the game.

I think they taught me that in "Installing Games 101", but I guess I was not paying attention that day.

Thanks for your help guys and once again, THANKS for making such great games!

(I am intrigued by the new 'American Wars' game...is there information on that?)
