n00b question

Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:41 am

So, I have one Shenandoah Force, which I want to promote to an army. It has 3 star general, and there are 2 Army HQs in the pool, but I still don't have it as an option. What am I missing? Is there a limit to the number of Armies CSa can have this early in the game?If so, where can I see it?

Thanks.

Have you created an Army unit fromthe reinforcements panel?

Once you do, it will have to 'organize' and gain strength like any other new unit.

Once it shows as ready, move it to your army, join the army (pun?) and click on create army in the command panel.

...of course, if you're playing a scenario, you can't create any new units!!

Having Army HQ on the reinforcements pool (DON'T mistake it with replacements!!!) just mean you can build them.
So you have to order one of them built, pay for it, wait for it to appear on your capital and move them to the Shenandoah's BEFORE you can build the new army.
Corps and divisions can be "constructed" on the fly. Armies cannot. They have real HQ units you have to attach to the *** leader.
Oh and yes, there is limits on the number of Armies. The limit is the number of Army HQ you have on the reinforcement pool. It will change as war goes by...

Hope it helps
Cheers!

Yes, HQ are under support tab on reinforcement screen
If you don´t find any its because you still don´t have any in the pool.
its too early on the campaign??
Maybe you are mistaken with the HQ replacements.
That ones serve to give full strength to the Army HQ you already have on the map (as the CSA, o the first turns of the april 61 campaign you will receive one with Beuregard).
As the rest of the units on this free armies, the HQ unit appears understrength (at 30% i think). Buy one HQ replacement and it will fill to 100% strength in some turns,
Cheers!

Hi
No, its not random. They are introduced progressively to simulate the historical developent of the real ACW.
Basically, in the firsts months you will have to wait a little to organize new armies.
Also, you will have a limit on the number of Armies HQ based on history. CSA will receive less than USA, the same that with divisions.

I know that as the CSA you will receive 2 HQ Armies on the pool (in addition to the one Beuregard have on map) on summer 1861. Don't remember the exact turn, but i´m pretty sure its about july.
On september AS Johnston arrives on Nashville so you will have three competent 3*** leaders (Beuregard and the 2 Johnstons) to your 3 available Armies (one free, two you will have to buy).
Lee arrives on august but will be locked on Richmond until may 62 except if the USA gets too near to the rebel capital.
Sorry but i don't know the exact schedule of the rest of Army HQ arrivals to the pool. I think it has changed with the patches... maybe you could do a search for it on the forum.
Anyhow, usually you will have enough. As the CSA the problem will by finding money and troops to fill their corps :p leure:

In case you don't know, on your AACW installation folder you have several pdf documents with info on all the arrival dates of leaders, free units etc.
Very useful! :coeurs:

Cheers
