WW II PC Game Recommendation?

I am looking for a STRATEGIC World War II game that may still be playable on a Windows 8 machine. Something with a large-scale campaign; single player --- reminiscent of the old Avalon Hill board games. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for a GOOD game? Not really interested in tactical-oriented games.
