Quick ambush question

I have the following questions with ambush :

- Can I set an unit with Passive Posture in ambush ?

- Can I ambush an enemy unit in a territory where there is one of (my) structures ?

- What is the exact effect, apart from increase retreat chance ?

Minimal - IIRC, you get first shot (initiative)

Personally, I rarely use it, because too often the Ambush activates against a large force, and my Raiders get obliterated....

Ambushes are good against already very disorganised and/or with few moral, tired troops.
In RUS (but that is not simulated in), the legend says Makhno fought 1 vs 30! against the germans resting in ukrainian farms. Some germans were killed, the big remaining, surprised and afraid, surrendered and were sent home (officers were shot)!
