French capitulation

Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:19 pm

Well, after holding Paris for about a year, France has apparently capitulated. For some reason though, they ceded nothing, and gave only very minimal indemnities. The biggest bonus was sinking of their navy I guess.

However, France is not showing up as having surrendered. I can move my armies around their territory freely without having them attacked, yes. But when I hover my mouse of the little picture of diplomat in upper panel (where it lists number of recruits, ammunitions etc.) French status says "Pro-Entente." It says the same in their diplomatic screen.

Unlike Belgian status, which simply says "Capitulated or Surrendered," or something to that effect at least.

I am a bit confused, did I achieve victory over France or not? What if I would want France to actually cede some land? Is it normal they surrendered even though their parliament mood was "Warmongering" ?

It just kind of bugs me, because after stubbornly refusing to surrender when I took Paris, when Italy entered the war, it surrendered out of nowhere when I crushed their forces in the south, but the surrender is not very..."visible" so to say. To further my confusion, the national wills of Central Powers did get boosts, but in the next turn I got the boost to national will again, this time with the event saying: "Following the surrender of Major Power of Germany, Germany gains 1 to National Will."

It's early 1916 by the way.

EDIT: Ah apparently the France did capitulate, the French did show up as having capitulated when I've restarted the game.
