Recommended settings?

Fri Mar 06, 2009 8:14 am

Starting a new game, what should the settings be in the options menu, ie activation rule, attrition, etc?
"Sad fragility of human things! What riches and treasures of art will remain forever buried beneath these ruins; how many distinguished men - artists, sovereigns, and warriors - are now forgotten!"

"The Nation that makes a great distinction between its scholars and its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools."

Hi!

The standard/normal ones should be OK if your are starting with the game.
Something like
- Normal activation (the middle) one IIRC
- No hardened attrition.
- +1 activation bonus to the AI
- No detection bonus or a small bonus for the AI
- Normal difficulties (means no combat/movement bonus for the AI)
- Give AI more time to think
...
(not sure if i forgot something)
I think all this comes selected by default

Oh! and i highly recommend you to install the latest patch and the Community mod (something like a pre-patch with very nice fixes and
additions) :coeurs:

The community mod will eventually become integrated with the official game?

Lodilefty can give you more details but for what i understand: yes, they will become official if the changes and improvements work all right.
While the next official patch comes around they serve to offer some fast fixes, improve the gameplay and test the new improvements on setups and events

I'm using it on a 1755 game and it works nicely! :coeurs:

I guess it should help even if juts little. But it's very difficult to know for sure.

On WIA the turn process is not too long (even on my ancient PC) so i don't mind giving her some more time. :)

Yes. With a few 'tweaks' based on community feedback.

You've got to play with hardened attrition on for human player only, not for AI. Makes you prepare, plan and check the weather :D
Should really be the default option for a better game :)

This is something I've wondered about. Does hardened attrition trip up the AI, or is it programmed to account for it?

Well, she can sometimes trip up with normal attrition, so better not to put more hurdles for her ;)
I guess the need to be on a depot to recover full elements with this setting can be a problem for her.
