Created my own SOUNDTRACK for game

Fri Aug 01, 2008 1:50 am

Hello,

I am big fan of all the games so far, being a history buff I have created over time a huge historical musical collection. The way you can make your own soundtrack for game is very easy, just create a file and save all your mp3 files in it then before start up game create a playlist in windows media player. Just run that in background and there you go. I have playlist for Medieval games,ww2,Civil war,Rev War and even side specific soundtrack. Example I playing the Confederates in ACW game I listen to confederate music. It adds so much to games.

I use a mix of period music from movies, documentaries, fife drum recordings, even the mp3 background music come with game etc.

Some that work well for BOA2 are music from the following CDs I pick and choose only songs I liked to add to play list - Music of the American Revolution - The Birth of Liberty (HIGHLY Recommend this one),Soundtrack from Last the Mochicans, The spirit of 76 and Ruffles and Flourishes - Frederick Fennell (Very Good, also has ACW and modern marches a ton of tunes), Soundtrack from Barry Lyndon the British Grenadiers and Lilliburlero from this CD is WOW awesome ,Williamsburg Fife and Drum corps has outstanding ones such as Rondeau by Mouret, York Marsch, and best version of Yankee doodle you will ever hear,Various Bagpipe music like the Regimental company march, A few from soundtrack Patriot, British Grenadiers from Disney fife drum corps, from PBS special of Rev War - James Taylor Johnny has gone for a soldier, even pick two included in game from USA Old Guard fife drum corps - O'Farrell"s and Royal American Medley. Even used the one song the Folk Medley 11 from Master and Commander movie. Also the main theme comes with BOA2 is very good indeed. PBS also did a special on the French and Indian war awhile back and they have a great soundtrack even with some cool indian music. All these CDs - I actually bought and own and ripped em to my computer in Mp3 format so can organize and back em up.

Basically do your homework - research period music and then find version the song you like. With a computer this is a fun quest and you will love the drums and fife as you plan your next moves.

Any questions to me just ask any more great period music let me know what you have.

Bluemx:

I do the same and have play lists for F&I War/Rev. War; Napoleonic; Civil War; WWII; etc. I also love the soundtrack from Barry Lyndon; it spans several periods, F&I through Napoleonic.

Johnnie: There is some wonderful vocal music on the soundtrack of HP's "Shiloh!"
