Good points, their way of warfare was "raiding", not conquest... :coeurs:

LOL!! Lawyers (me) didn't understand it either ... didn't have enough time to devote to it. Thank God for computers.
RE: Supply for deep penetrations raids by sea. Initial supply requirements are provided by the transport which brought the raiders to their target area. Ther plan is always to "seize a port!" (Cherborg, Antwerp) to provide a more permanent supply source. Remeber Benedict Arnold's abortive raid into Canada. They went a long way under terrible conditions only to fail in the end. There is a wonderful book on that raid Kenneth Roberts. T
