AACW...The need to get away from the war for a few minutes

Mon Mar 24, 2008 11:18 pm

It seems as if since I got this addicting game that I have been playing 'just one more turn' until 1 in the morning (my girlfriend says 2 AM but I don't think she can tell time anyway).

This has brought about some weird things like 'dreaming of a new stategy to take St. Louis', or perhaps driving to work and all of a sudden it hits me that IF I just would circle around about 2 regions...

I think you get the idea (and most of you have more than likely HAD similar instances).

I thought about talking to my lawyer and seeing if there was any precedent for perhaps making AGEOD supplement my income so I could just quit work and never have to leave the game except to eat ( I guess I could have a cathater (sp?) run for the other purposes).

What I am saying is, for me too much of a good thing can make me do repetitive things (in the game) that are counter productive for the troops under my ultimate command and if i'm not careful 'The South May NEVER Rise Agian' (or me either if my GF gets any madder).

All kidding aside I did take a whole (personally forced) week break from the game just to get a better perspective not only on the game but to give my wore out lads a well deserved furlough.

In the meantime (being a compulsive gamer) I knew I needed another outlet to make my mind go in a different direction (but still be on the computer and competing with myself).

I discoverd the game on here called MontJoie.

What a WONDERFUL game and diversion this little gem is.

Its easy on the eyes (man I was getting headaches and eyestrain), EASY to learn (LOL), and a great strategy game that was like I used to play on a board game 30 years ago.

I guess I am trying to say to those that know what I am talking about when I say "I love AACW but I HAVE to depart from it every so often (just so I can unclench my teeth, oh...and my GF says it would be nice if I would quit yelling at the computer over the same issues).

They (MontJoie) have a demo that has 2 battles in it and they are a LOT of fun. I purchased the game so I could do the Historical Campaign (its about the 100 years war, You know Joan of Arc ect) but just the demo was a GREAT break.

Now strategically speaking (this IS a strategy thread after all), Playing that game made me think of things I had forgotton about strategy. Things like Blocking Off an opposing Army Group, How luck can be involved, and the need to not squander your resources (and troops) needlessly.

I am refreshed, ready to rumble with those 'Damn Yankees' agian and will start my first game on the 'Hard' setting tonight.

Seriously, if you want another good strategy game that is well thought out, easy to learn, and REALLY is hard to master (I actuallly caught myself laughing in that game....I am certainly grateful that my troops on furlough didn't see that!!) JUST so you can clear your mind then I reccomend MontJoie as a diversion.

No, I don't work for Ageod....(but if they want to compensate me for my services then make a patch giving the CSA MORE DANG CONSCRIPTS!!

trust me...we ALL have those dreams, visions and in my case nightmares about St. Louis :)

Big game, and it gets better with each passing patch...it's normal once you find your game it's like with cigarettes, you just don't want to stop, it's not that you can't...you don't want! :)
