Does (Can) Athena Really Remember (Learn)?

Sat Mar 29, 2008 1:55 pm

The first two games I played I sent the heavy guns of Norfolk over to Hampton roads, Then an officer, plus two militia units, as soon as they became available. Starting a siege of Ft. Monroe during the summer of '61 ASAP has lead to it's complete breech and fall ,painlessly for the C.S.A., by early '63, in both games.

I started a third game and this time Athena lost no time sending General Butler down with a minimal force to secure the " Roads" before I could get Norfolk's heavy guns on site. :sourcil:

That was without doubt either a striking coincidence or Athena is more "intelligent" than I first realized. :8o:

...and though in another thread I said I was turning up the A.I. I decided to stay on normal settings for now to compare how repetitively the game plays itself...so that wasn't a factor.

It was a striking coincidence. She doesn't have that ability (yet).

I fear not :p leure:
Butler goes to Ft Monroe by event.
Maybe on your third try you started later the siege or the event fired before
From my experience each games evolve quite differently.

Butler starts (fixed) in Fort Monroe. Athena usually sends him up the Chesapeake as soon as he unlocks.

I think he does appear by event, although I'm not sure if it is on the first turn or shortly after.

Yeah..I see that now. Butler's minimal force moved on then my Hamton Roads occupation force moved in and began a siege without effort.

Not that Ft. Monroe amounts to a hill of beans anyway in the bigger scheme.

It might though one day, if Athena ever does learn to mount a real McClellan peninsular style campaign. :fleb: ...but she probably is brighter than that already. :niark:

If not brighter, she is certainly bolder than Little Mac :siffle: :niark:
