Orders not carried out (PBEM)

Tue Mar 18, 2008 3:03 pm

I have started an AACW game PBEM in which my opponent is hosting. This is a first for me; in BoA and NCP it was always me hosting.

I received my T2 .trn file from my opponent and found that none of my orders had been carried out. To wit:
1. I had ordered a total blockade in the "politics" menu. The option is still available to sign, and there was no entry in the turn log.
2. I had ordered 10 additional riverine transports to be built. They were not built, the total is the same as last turn (30).
3. I had started light industrialization in MI. This turn, the factory icon has disappeared, and no improvement has taken place. There is plenty of money and materiel.

Am I correct in concluding that my opponent may not have dropped my .ord file into the correct subfolder before running the turn? Or is there another explanation for this?

Thank you! :)

Heldenkeiser,

Were there any other orders that were not carried out in your turn, such as any move orders?

It seems to me like your opponent didn't receive your .ord file, or didn't put it in the necessary folder, or the game can't recognize your .ord file because it has another name.

You can ask your opponent to check if he can see your orders file (with a red attachment icon) in the load game menu.

Thank you. There were no move orders, this being the Union T1 of the April 1861 scenario. Everybody is fixed.

the first turn as not the warning message what's more, as the game can't know if you want to play against the AI or have just forgot the order file. On the subsequent turns, he should get the warning message if the problem appears again.

my take is that the ord file was misplaced.

Thank you, Gentlemen. I thought so, but wanted to make sure there were no other possible explanations that I had missed. I know how to PBEM, but only from BoA and NCP. :innocent:

Heldenkaiser make sure that in the game options menu that AI option is turned off for both you and your oppenent. This should fix your problem.

Actually you don't have to do that, if there is an order file, the AI won't take over the position. You can pbem with the box checked, no problem.

Hmm I was having the same problem as Heldenkaiser and doing this fixed it. I must have unknowingly done something else.

Thank you, Gentlemen. It appears my opponent and I are back on track ... for the moment. :innocent:

My opponent and I are having the same problem. I double and triple checked that the activate AI button was not checked. We reloaded and started the game over three times now. I also tried going back a turn and reloading his orders. NONE of these things have executed his orders. Mine got executed as Union and I am hosting. NONE of his orders as CSA were executed. I looked in the save file before hitting the turn button to verify that the orders were there and they were. Really at a loss as to how this can happen. I have two other PBEMs going on and I am hosting them with no problems. ANY help greatly appreciated.

Have you asked your opponent if his AI button is unchecked?

Yes I made him check that ALL our settings were the same. Am quite mystified as to what is going on since I have 3 successful games as host and now I get this 'error' or whatever it is!

His ord file is perhaps not for the correct turn, it would be ignored in this case.

Open the HST, it should look like that

{Gamesim}
1000001
2709
2785
1861 April Campaign
str1861ACampaign2DispName
str1861ACampaign2Description

The number in bold is the turn number (with a 1750 start :) ).

Now look at his ord file

{Faction}
1000001
0
0
1112
1
0
-4028
-3108
1
1
10
1
0
1603
0
2709
0

The current turn is the 16th data, ie the 17th line if you count the {Faction} tag.

Btw, if a programmer out there want to spill 30 mn doing a utility for this kind of quick compare, I'm sure many players would appreciate the service. :coeurs:

Now Brian I am one you are playing who are not experiencing any problems. I assume though you are 'hosting' in the game you are experiencing problems with. Now this may be stupid but have you checked that your opponents file has not been sent to you as a RAR file......yours are to me which means I have to unzip them in situ before they will appear. Just a thought and if I'm teaching my grannie to suck eggs I apologise.
